HOW TO CHOOSE FLOORING

HOW TO CHOOSE FLOORING

Choosing the type of flooring for your home can be a difficult decision because it depends on several factors, such as aesthetics, price, and durability. In this post, we list various types of flooring so you can choose the one that suits your needs.

Laminate flooring

The laminate is mounted as a floating floor, connecting parts with each other using the built-in click system. Sometimes they are confused with parquet, but the main difference is that the laminate does not carry natural wood in its composition, it is a combination of high-pressure melamine resins coated with a pattern of imitation wood or other materials. There are many styles, textures and colours. The thickness is usually from 7 to 12 millimetres.

One of the main advantages of floating flooring is the ability to install the laminate on other coatings without dismantling it. You just need to level the surface. Another advantage is the quick installation speed. For these reasons, it is a relatively inexpensive coating and one of the most commonly used in home repair.

Another advantage is sound insulation with impact noises, such as heels, which are transmitted by the vibration of the structure. Thus, the floating floor provides good insulating properties.

Parquet Floating flooring

Parquet has natural wood in its composition. There are different varieties and it can be solid or multilayer. The latter consists of a layer of solid wood and various layers of varnish. A multi-layer coating is cheaper than solid, although a massive parquet can be cut so that it retains more quality and thickness than a multi-layer. It is more complex and expensive to install than a laminate, although it has superior strength than a floating floor since it can be sanded again in case of damage and it will remain as new.

Ceramic Tiles

Tiles are known for their durability and affordable price. It is made of clay with enamel finish, which gives it a shiny, hard, impermeable and colourful appearance. It is also anti-scratch and can have anti-slip characteristics.

The main advantages of ceramic tiles are various finishes, it is very durable and has a low cost.

The disadvantage of tiles is that the coating can be cold to touch, and if something heavy dropped on the floor it can be chipped.
